The Triple Crowned

Well, as you probably know by now, Barack Obama learned how to run a state-wide campaign at the knee of Governor Rod Blagojevich.

Emanuel told the New Yorker earlier this year that he and Obama "participated in a small group that met weekly when Rod was running for governor. We basically laid out the general election, Barack and I and these two."
He endorsed the Good Governor in 2002 and during the beginning of his presidential run in 2006.

Both men were, of course, excellent friends with convicted Syrian immigrant Tony Rezko.
Rezko raised or contributed over a quarter of a million dollars to Obama during eight years that Obama was running for or holding his state senate and U. S. Senate positions. Moreover, during his 2004 campaign for the U. S. Senate, Obama spoke with now convicted felon, and then Obama fundraiser and finance guy, Rezko, almost daily.
Illinois Congressman Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, Forrest Claypool and Barack Obama got the Good Governor elected. Which is only fair, as Mayor Daley helped Rahm Emanuel get elected, and everyone knows the Good Governor was Daley's boy.

Barack grew up in the Daley machine.
The Feds are tearing down portions of the Daley machine.

Can Barack get all the necessary paper shredded before the Good Governor sings?
Can the Good Governor avoid a knife in the ribs long enough to finish his song?

This Advent, we watch the story of the three crowned men - the Good Governor, the Man with Sharp Elbows and the One - unfold before our eyes.

Stay tuned...

UPDATE:
Here's a shocker.
Here's another.
Notice in this second link that it is actually a search of the news website: in the lower left-hand corner, there is a link to a story filed on Nov.5

Who will fill Obama's senate seat? : News : KHQA

Nov 5, 2008 ... Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and Barack Obama will meet this afternoon in Chicago to discuss filling Obama's seat in the US Senate.

They scrubbed the site, but not the search engine.
How sad.

Barack Hussein Obama a LIAR?
Heaven forfend!

News organizations covering up his lies?
I'm SHOCKED!

I blame George Bush.
And Karl Rove.
Heck, I blame Dick Cheney as well.
Why not?

  1. Per the AP: The president-elect was blunt and brief in addressing the case on Tuesday: "I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so I was not aware of what was happening" concerning any possible dealing about Blagojevich's appointment of a successor.

His statement that he didn't have contact with Blagojevich about the Senate seat seems to conflict with that of top adviser David Axelrod, who told Fox News Chicago on Nov. 23: "I know he's talked to the governor, and there are a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

Let's hope this doesn't turn into Watergate II. This is beginning to have all the hallmarks of one, but we'll have to see how it turns out.

However, I do find the utter lack of enthusiasm for the story from many news commentators enlightening. Over and over the phrase "Chicago politics always has the possibility of getting ugly" almost became a mantra today. Crime and politics mixing as usual? I guess the "time for change" from Chicago has now officially become the new normal.

  2. After eight years of Billyboy's trailerpark corruption and venality, now we must endure years of Chicago-style corruption. It has rotted the very soul out of Illinois' political culture, on both the Right and the Left . . . and now it's coming to the Oval Office. God help us.

The search engine is Google-powered, so they wouldn't be able to scrub the search engine -- after a few days, however, Google will update itself and the link will probably disappear.

Anyway, the disappearance of the story is not that mysterious. Under their "News" link, they have a link to this "Clarification":

    Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 4:04 p.m.

KHQA TV wishes to offer clarification regarding a story that appeared last month on our website ConnectTristates.com. The story, which discussed the appointment of a replacement for President Elect Obama’in the U.S. Senate, became the subject of much discussion on talk radio and on blog sites Wednesday.

The story housed in our website archive was on the morning of November 5, 2008. It suggested that a meeting was scheduled later that day between President Elect Obama and Illinois Governor Blagojevich. KHQA has no knowledge that any meeting ever took place. Governor Blagojevich did appear at a news conference in Chicago on that date.

So, either KHQA is trying to cover up that meeting, or else they were caught making a false statement about a meeting and were called on it . . . in which case they should have issued a "Correction," not a "Clarification," and they shouldn't have said their story "suggested" that a meeting was scheduled, because their story plainly said, not suggested, that a meeting was scheduled. So, either they screwed up and are too proud to admit it, or else they're trying to deceive people into thinking Blago and Obama didn't meet.

  4. James Taranto has a good discussion of this question of whether or not Obama and Blago met last month. Looks like there's doubt about whether or not they actually met, though it's pretty certain Obama's aides who have changed their story and are now claiming the two haven't talked about Obama's replacement are liars:

  5. Jordanes,
What is your take on this. I spent the day reading all 78 pages, and to me it looks like Obama could be in some trouble.

  6. I haven't read the criminal complaint, but my initial sense is that Obama probably won't be directly implicated in these crimes of Blago. Some of his advisors or aides, possibly. Obama is about as corrupt as all the rest of the Chicago Democrats, but proving it won't be easy -- and a Democrat like Patrick Fitzgerald won't be terribly motivated to go after the Messiah either.

  7. No,I don't think Obama has anything to do with this directly. But, some of his staff are involved, and this gives his "new kind of politics," and his "transparency" a nice black eye. He looks shook up for the first time.

Actually, there is no doubt that they met. FOX showed a photo of him and Blago shaking hands that was taken on December 3rd.
Obama is caught.Like I said, his new kind of politics has a big black eye!

Give it a few days and it will be well known. I posted an article from ABC that calls Obama out.
